H11 Steel

As air-cooled hardening hot work die steel from the United States, H11 steel is one of the three most commonly used hot work die steels in the European die casting industry. The mold life of the steel can be 1.5 to 3 times of that of 5CrNiMo steel.

Features of H11 Steel

• small carbides and uniform distribution in steel

• good cold and hot fatigue resistance and corrosion resistance

• good cold and hot workability,and good hardenability

• good thermal strength and oxidation resistance, high toughness and wear resistance at medium temperature.

• the toughness of this steel is slightly higher than that of H13 steel, and heat treatment is needed, the applied hardness is 50-54HRC generally.

Application of H11 Steel

• suitable for high-speed hammer forging dies, aluminum and magnesium alloy hot forging dies(applied hardness 42-50HRC), forging die for ferrous metal(applied hardness 40-50HRC).

• suitable for hot work die steel with greater risk of cracking.
