CrWMn Steel

CrWMn is the most commonly used high-carbon alloy tool steel to make molds.

As improved type of 9CrWMn die steel, CrWMn is known as "non-deformable steel" and has a long history of application and widely use in China.

Features of CrWMn Steel

  • Hardenability, hardening capacity, toughness, wear resistance, and controllability of deformation after heat treatment are better than T10A steel.

  • Because tungsten forms carbides, the steel has more excess carbides, higher hardness and wear resistance after quenching and low-temperature tempering than chromium steel and 9SiCr steel.

  • In addition, tungsten also helps to preserve the fine grains, so that the steel obtains better toughness.

Application of CrWMn Steel

  • The steel is widely used to machine thin steel plates. It is the basic material for non-ferrous metal light-loaded and complex-shaped cold stamping dies, especially in the fields of clocks, instruments, toys, and food industry.

  • The steel can be used to make complex shapes of blanking dies of thickness<1mm, such as concave dies, convex dies and insert dies.

  • It is used for concave dies, convex dies and insert dies in bending dies that require high wear resistance and have complex shapes.

  • It is used for concave dies and convex dies in cold extrusion dies for aluminum parts.

  • It is used for the cold extrusion concave die of copper parts, and cold extrusion convex and concave dies of steel parts
